The Global financial crisis / Banking crisis
The Iraq war
The Afganistan ' War '
MP's expenses scandal
Various tsunamis
Greek economy being in tatters
Haitian earthquake
The BP oil well disaster
Stubbing your toe on the chair , last week

Have any of them really thought about how PR would work, how a government/cabinet would be formed, and by whom, and how laws would ever be passed with a disjointed rabble for a parliament?
Really Tamborine?
Which party introduced the minimum wage?
Which party fought it tooth and nail?
Which party is telling us we need immediate and savage cost cuts in the public sector throwing thousands out of work but that we can still give huge tax cuts to people inheriting a million pounds?
Got any more comedy material?

gb was not responsible for the global financialcrisis: they happen every so often as history tells us (i.e. 1929; post-war; 1980s/90s and now). basically, everything inflates and in flates and inflates - and then a good old slump sorts it all out again. think about the things labour have done: minimum wages; child, pension and tax credits; shorter nhs waiting times and more diverse services; invested in the public sector (god knows it needed it after the tory's got their hands on it!); more affordable housing in a ridiculous property boom; was the most successful chancellor of recent times (although he quickly ****ed that up as PM); blair was responsible for the war; and nice low tax rates (again fuffing that up a bit of late); and bailing out banks instead of letting them go to the dogs (which the tory's would have done, leaving thousands out of pocket). ok - things are crappy right now, but you can't blame it all on gb. cameron didn't get his majority because he didn't have the balls to state his right-wing thatcherite views (which would have made him more unpopular than he already is) and did not clearly lay out a clear, decisive maifesto alnong with all the other parties - they all sounded the same! hence: lab + lib + con claptrap = hung parliament. well done guys! x
Always amazing on here how, particularly the resident lefties, jump on a post without reading it properly. If not the rest, surely the 'stubbed your toe' gives the game away.
To answer the question, I think many people voted labour because they want the party in as they believe the party offers them the best way forward. It does not mean they voted for Brown necessarily. Brown is one man there are a couple of hunred other MP's.

thought i'd pop some real politics into the discussion - and i'm not a loony leftie, i'm me! however, what i do blame gb for is my fascination with watching his speech impediment (which makes him look like he's going to dribble any moment) and his flashbulb smile, which is a touch of genius. as a person and mostly a politician, i find him ewwww! slimy, slippery, false andoutt of his depth. the 'scandal' of him leavingthat microphone on was hilarious, but showed the public his own and political selves for what they are. repulsive! x
jake-the-peg....Employers dont run businesses for work-shy or tribunals. If you're worth the minimum wage & employed, work !
As for public sector workers, TV showed a council litter-picker trying to pick up a cig butt with those gripper sticks. Given a broom it would have been done quicker......but that would give him more time for more work. Our Council tax has risen unproportionally with income, with less services. This is backed by Labour !

'' It was always going to be a struggle to get them out. ''
Oh come come now, R1 Geezer .
Reading your posts over the last year , one could be forgiven for thinkinfg that , you were certain that the Tories would be swept into power , with a landslide victory .
I dont remember you posting anything about - it was going to be a struggle - it was a foregone conclusion , according to you

Labour clung on to a lot of seats because it was sunny on election day.
No, seriously.
The population drove to the polling stations in warm sunshine, enjoying a blast of "feel good factor" sunshine, thinking ...
... maybe things are not so bad as they are.
And then, oh horror! ... woke up the next day to realize that GB was still in No.10.
