A relatively small amount but hey we have to start somewhere. Why don't we just stop paying the EU a billion a month to shaft us? What would the EU do if we said sorry we are skint, can't afford to pay?

We'd be outside of the EU trade barrier.

Our exports would be taxed selling into the EU which would result in hundreds if not thousands of companies going under.

A lot of Far Eastern and US companies like mine would move their European headquarters (note European not British headquarters) to countrys inside the EU.

There is a reason that not one of the main political parties wants to remove us from the EU

The reason is they know what it would do to the country

Yes jake I've heard all your rhetoric about what could happen if we were outside. What I'm asking is, what would happen if we stopped paying? Would they send in the balliffs? Is there a disciplinary process?
Oh you mean just stopped paying ?!?!

Well I think for a start the Gilts market would crash through the floor - If we show that we're willing to default on our EU obligations investors would rightly ask themselves what else we might default on.

Incidently this 169 Billion that is making us skint is getting a bit overplayed don't you think?

It's a lot of money true, but you divide it up between 30 million tax payers and you come out with a bit over 5 grand each.

Shouldn't be underplayed but skint we are not
Companies such as Toyota and Nissan were set up in Britain so that we could export the cars to Europe. If we were to pull out of the EU then expect massive closures when their plants were put elsewhere.
