It states that Mr Donohoe, was given a three year driving ban, however, despite the nature of the offence he is legally free to continue riding his scooter.

Does this mean if he owns a car he will be banned from driving it for 3 years, but can continue to drive the vehicle (a mobility scooter), on which he committed the offence of drink driving?

There will be some who will complain about these vehicles driving at 4 MPH as dangerous, and should be banned from our foot-ways,

Should we then also ban heavy weight pedestrians, fast moving joggers, horses, and bicycles from these foot-ways?

So the mail can't even get the headline correct. Thats a 8MPH scooter.

So the machine IS an 8 mph scooter in that it is capable of achieving that speed unless switched to the lower range.

How do we know what this person had it set to at the time of the incident?

Certainly the 'gentleman' in my earlier post would not warn people he was behind them the first you'd know is when he reaches out to shove you out of his way

Do you know why the police go in with lots of people to arrest a single individual?
BECAUSE IT'S SAFER FOR THE ARRESTED PERSON!!!
PC Smith goes to arrest Joe Bloggs, Joe decides he doesn't want to go quietly so resists arrest. PC Smith is left with very few options, basically pudding him with baton, spray him with CS, punch him in the head or run away!
However if PC Smith goes along with 7 other PC mates then Mr Bloggs gets his arms and legs pinned, his head and neck supported so he doesn't go faceplanting the concrete and he gets cuffed and in the back of the van with no injury.

Being banned from driving when he doesn't, I presume, drive a car is stupid.

But so is being drunk (3 times over the limit) driving a vehicle on the pavement at whatever speed.

I'm pretty sure if this had been some chav, drunk on cider, riding a bicycle on the pavement and not stopping when asked by the police, the same people that ridicule it on here would have been up in arms.

Is it the fact that he's disabled that makes it ok to be drunk driving a vehicle on the pavement?
