Quiz questions - a debate.

Why do some people take part in a quiz when they are asking the questions from the quiz 5 days after receiving the questions?  Not just one question, but several I see. The closing date of the particular quiz I am referring too is weeks away yet. Isn't the chase part of the fun?   If someone posts the question verbatim, then anyone googling (as I have done, is pointed to this site where an answer (although it is not necessarily right) is posted. Fair enough when the closing date is looming and you have tried every avenue to find that elusive answer but surely asking after 5 days is just being lazy and spoiling the 'fun' of us more persistent individuals. What do others think?

I know what you mean, but it all comes down to personal feelings. I am the same I would rather do it on my own until i am sure I have no chance of getting it. but others aren't so massochistic.

How come when I google (at the last minute) for these answers they never seem to have been asked on this site?  Are they that easy and I'm so fick!?

Having said that, my bugbear are the people that post a question that's already posted, in some cases several times.  They obviously haven't checked the list before finally submitting.  I know this has been said before but perhaps it may prevent the usual suspects from re-offending.... and the answer is Bran Flakes!!!

The point about re-posting is fine except that in a lot of cases the question has dropped off the page and isn't easily seen by new readers, so if it hasn't been answered by the time it drops off the page it's not likely to be. Therefore it is asked again.

 There's someone on this site  who started asking for answers on the first day after they received the questions and has since posted many more.

Maybe they don't know how to Google!

Definitely annoying.

Everyone uses the internet to look for quiz answers - especially in GBQ. It's not just about searching - it's also about how you phrase your search.

So I cannot understand why people post questions so soon.

I have struggled to find an answer in GBQ (have had the quiz one week not due in for two weeks) so I Googled just now using keywords and hey presto no.1 in the results was the question posted in the answerbank. Obviously some people who post answers aren't quizzers they just happen to know things.

Surely the fun of doing quizzes like Quizmail and GBQ is trying to find the answers. Otherwise we might just all post 1 to 100 on answerbank on day one and then collect all the answers the day before the quiz is due.

Do you think that those of us who can google should only drop hints for those who can't?
I like to get clues as the deadline draws near and would rather still hunt out the right answer.
By the way, had any of you heard of Gabby Goat?

Perhaps, it ought to be AB rules that only hints/clues and not direct answers are given - but I think that that would be a nightmare to 'police'. Alternatively, as a lot of people do differrent quizzes then they must post where the question comes from and then no more than say 3 questions per quiz.  At least then people will know where they stand and it will stop one person posting most of the quiz.  Incidentally, all of the questions posted by the person referred to above, are to be found by googling or horror of horrors, looking it up in a book!

I thought the point of this site was to obtain answers, isn't that why it is called THE ANSWERBANK, but here we go again, with ideas of restricting the amount of questions asked or only giving hints and clues, there are plenty of sites who do that. If you don;'t want to see the answers posted in this site then don't click on the links that lead you here, afterall the links are clearly marked, but anyway, half the time the answers are wrong, so what's the problem. The people who can't be bothered to do their own research rarely get near the winners, especially in GBQ as there are twists and turns in the questions. Restricting peoples posting will lead to people using several identities. I normally wouldn't reply to postings such as this but really, live and let live.........

I agree with Mickey. What gets me about one of the other sites is that they insist only hints but then people just by pass the site and give you the answers in an inbox. You may as well be honest and share it with anyone who wants to know, as you say you dont have to look.

Speaking personally I do submit questions but will answer other questions by giving clues.  I agree with others that simply giving the answer is not helping the individual to use the internet more advantageously.
