World Cup fever?
17 Answers
Who is not sick of the World Cup before it starts?
I am getting fed up every time I switch on the TV news, they rattle on an on about the various players, their training, their injuries, their safaris into the bush etc etc.
But what also annoys me is the fact that one would think that the world cup was being sponsored by 'Aid for Africa'.
What is the point of showing us over and over again, year in and year out, harrowing pictures of poor little under nourished infants dying?
Even if one was to get up from the couch and write out a cheque for a said amount, and then off to the post box to post it off, what little difference would this make to the life of that poor little child, I had only a few moments ago seen in the arms of it's mother?

It's football, it's the World Cup..........nuff said
I personally get fed up with politics every day when I watch the news, but no-one forces me to watch/listen to it so while those items are on I read my newspaper
The operative word here is NEWS, and yes, top sporting events ARE news
On your other point, until we see Bob Geldof reading the news I think we can assume that the news programmes are not running 'Aid for Africa' campaigns

I can't wait it's fantastic and my chart has been up and ready for months. My grandson is looking forward to it too, this will be the first one he will remember, i was his age when England won in 66 and I have always remebered how amazing that was, my Dad and brother ran a local team when I was a teenager and so there was always some match going on somewhere.
This year it is going to be great, we should get to the 3rd match already through so I;ve booked the next match date off too.

I love it, Engerland's in a frenzy, millions are espousing that weary old adage "Engerland Expects!", the media can talk of little else, people are driving around with little flags fluttering from their cars, the pubs are doing a roaring trade, football strips are flying off the shelves, Bobby Charlton has declared that Engerland can beat Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Germany, France etc etc, "Golden Balls" is out there as some kind of good luck team mascot, and Rooney has started as he means to go on.
Then, there will be the inevitable inquest after Engerland are knocked out, which should be any time from the last 16 stage, and no one in Engerand will give a toss about who ends up winning the thing - they'll be too preoccupied with taking the flags down and stashing them back into their lofts and garages until next time.
Apart from that, I dunno what all the fuss is about?
