Why should we stay in Afghanistan?
This year the Netherlands are withdrawing their contingent of 2000 troops from Afghanistan. By next year the Canadians are also withdrawing their 3000 troops.
Our 10,000 troops seem likely to be in it for the long haul as no end date has been mentioned and in fact the US has asked us to make up some of the shortfall left by other countries pullouts.
Is it time to say enough is enough and get out of this everlasting war?

Afghanistan was a harbour for terrorism, activists (soldiers) who could attack us at will with a form of state funding and centralised stores, it had to go, it has to remain gone.
The threats facing our society will only start to abate when we deal with the other big issue of the last 60 odd years, PALESTINE.

We went to Afghanistan to shut down Al Qaeda not to fight the Taliban
Now we need to leave in a way that stops Al Qaeda coming back.
That almost certainly means talking to them and some sort of government that they play a part of.
This isn't made easier by the "vermin rants" in the press and elsewhere
It just adds amunition to the people that want us just to run away at any price

Afghanistan was never the threat, and what state funding and centralised stores are you referring to?
Afghanistan is a country still living in the middle ages, they have no state never mind funding, and centralised stores? a few ex-Russian weapons and the know how to lash up a few home-made bombs.
A threat to our homeland? How many Afghans have British passports, which enables them to travel freely between Afghanistan and Britain?
No it is Pakistan who are the real threat, it is them who possess nuclear weapons. it is there that the training camps are, and it is from there that terrorists have access to the UK,
