Vuvuzela trumpets could be banned from World Cup stadiums, do you agree?

Im always staggered that at any point during the match you can hear them loudly, no one seems to need a break to breathe or anything.

Some Good news and some bad news....

Good News:
[The BBC is considering whether to broadcast a "vuvuzela free" version of its World Cup coverage following complaints about the noise from the plastic horn.

The Corporation is investigating several options, including stripping out most sound except commentary when showing the games on its red button digital service.

The broadcaster has already muted the feed which picks up crowd noise at the matches because of the horns but it has no plans to remove the sound of the vuvuzelas from matches broadcast on BBC1 and BBC2. ]

The Bad News:
[ Supermarkets in Britain have reported a surge in sales of the instruments, in the run-up to Friday's game against Algeria, sparking fears by the horns' opponents that they could become popular at British grounds. ]

The health and safety of anybody blowing one that is.

I couldn't understand what the background noise was at first, all that wasp-buzzing stuff. Then the penny dropped. OH and I think that this noise completely ruins the atmosphere, i.e. you can't hear any singing or chants or general football supporters stuff. It's a real shame. And even if it was banned, it would be impossible to enforce!

I feel sorry for the players. What a din when you are trying to concentrate on whats going on. No wonder some goals are missed or not saved. I say blame it on those silly trumpets !!

In the 50s and 60s young children (and some not so young) would go off every Sat to the local match carrying wooden rattles. When and why did this custom disappear?

I've just read that Premier Inns in UK has banned them in their bars in case they disturb other hotel guests.
