Retirement at 66 from 2016

The state pension age for men is set to rise to 66 from 2016. Would this be effective from 1st Jan 2016
or 6th April, the new financial year? Important to me as I reach 65 in January 2016.

googling the pension sites Papa, it seems it would be 6th of April for pension changes

has this bill gone through parliament yet, as it's not mentioned on the government website....
