Or are we just getting better at detecting when they have messed up?
// Three senior Scotland Yard officers could be sacked over repeated failures by police investigating the crimes of serial sex attacker Kirk Reid. //

What I'd add is only that, were the media to highlight Police successes as opposed to failures, the former would outweigh the latter very, very easily. There again, such mundane facts ought not to get in the way of the more emotional hysteria which seems to attach itself to the negative stories, right?
What's that little saying?.......Oh, yeah......"They're only human."
One has to question the motives of the officers involved when they cut corners to make a collar (promotion?), Orc, the police here are good overall, I'd sooner suffer our coppers over the coppers of most any other country in the world, but there is a reason for that.
It's called scrutiny.
