can't believe how lucky I was today - after my walk along the river bank where I saw the smooth snake (see post in animals and nature if interested), got back home to brekkie, shower, read the paper etc - two hours later discovered my mobile was missing - knew I'd taken it with me earlier, went back over the (long!) walk to find some kind soul had put it on a gate post. As there are few people in this area I assumed it was the owner of a car parked on the bridge so wrote a thank you note then cycled back to stick it on the windscreen. He was eating his lunch so was able to thank this nice man in person. In my book all that's lucky - maybe I should buy a lottery tickey.
I have twice left my bag hanging on my supermarket trolley and both times either it was handed into the supermarket or the person who found it called me. (I might not be lucky third time so leave my bag at home!) There are some good, honest people out there.
Same kinda thing happened to my ex. He left his phone on a train. I got a call from a bloke who had found it (redial) I thanked him and said I would arrange for him to send it. He was in London. A few hours later got another call saying his Dad will be passing through Northampton on the train in a few days time. If I could make it to the station his Dad would give it to me.
Gave him a quick description of me that morning....and his Dad quickly jumped off the train..handed to me and quickly jumped back on. Nice.
On another occasion (the same numpty) he dropped it in the street. I phoned it and some bloke answered saying they had just found it. Turns out he was still on the same street...lucky again.
3rd time not so lucky...he fell asleep on a bench after a night out with the phone in his hand. Someone walked up and took it.....lol
its true, but there is no mileage in good news...its why people think this is a 'broken society" it isn't its just a bit cracked in a few places... unlike here where a lot of people are nice but most are cracked
Nice people still exist. Did you see Mercia's post a week or so ago about the kids and the honesty box?. Was a good boost to the 'we can still believe in people' vibe.
no greedyfly I didn't but by and large people are usually nice - course a lot depends on how you treat them in the first place but as I'm an absolute angel I don't usually have a problem! (well that's what the dog thinks anyway)
