Right Death penalty and other ways of assaulting criminal!!!!!!

Right Im a left winger but I do believe in some right wing policies! But this one is the one that always gets me unstuck!

Ok so was reading about the famous 3 guys 1 hammer viral and how evil these 3 people are!
It makes my blood boil how despicable their actions were and would love someone to give me a reason why they shouldnt be set upon with hammers themselves!!?

Or that guy that threw acid on that model why shouldnt he suffer the same consequence! I do truly believe that some poeple are so evil that this sort of punishment seems fitting!.....but this is me at my most angry! If people can give reasons to make me see reason would like to hear it!

Because you are personalising justice.

You are inflicting a particular punishment because it makes you, personally angry.
The whole notion of justice is that it should be fairly dispensed across the board - time and again the same crimes should receive the same punishments

A crime should not receive a sentence based on how angry the judge feels - perhaps he just broke up with his wife or maybe he had a particularly good lunch.

If you inflict pusnishments on people that mimic the crime they committed you end up with a bizaare pantomime.

Often people call for rapists to be castrated - that is not an ey for an ey really is it - it's just that a true "mirror punishment" is too bizarre for even them.

These people just deserve something done to them that fits the crime! This is one of the worst things I think I have ever ever read!!!

Because we, as a society and as individuals are better than these perpetrators.

Sometimes we might be so enraged our reaction to them might be no better than their original crime, but we rely on our fellow citizens to moderate our anger and apply justice not revenge.

They are killers; we are not.

That's what makes us better than the criminals.

I want to agree with you both, I really do. But these guys dont even deserve Justice! For me there is a world away form someone who comes home finds his girl in bed then kills the guy with her. That is not a pointless death. There definitely was a point in that persons death. He deserves to goto prison to think bout what he did and how best to be put back into society.

What they did was pointless, sadistic and they do not deserve justice! Prison cant do any good for them at all!

but even if prison doesn't improve them it's purpose is that we have shown our disgust with them by taking them out of our society and inhibiting them

- without resort to any base behaviour ourselves. That contrast in standards of behaviour is important - partly because of what it tells us about ourselves.

I too was always against the death penalty but when I read about Baby P - I began to wonder would it not be a deterent

Perhaps if prisons were truly horrible places then the anger felt by many would be allayed.

However due to the liberal human rights brigade the victim has less rights than the perpurtrator.

Bang em up with hard labour for a period, folloed by another period in rehabilitation. If they dont learn on the rehabilitation bang them back up with more hard labour. And no Tv's PS3's etc.

Why is this a consideration?

If A commits an offence against B then (in this country) The Queen prosecutes them for breaking her laws.
