Handing in my notice advise

I finally handed my notice in last week after 10 years with my company. It was unfortunate that my boss has been on leave so handed it to the directors in bosses absence. My boss is back tomorrow so will speak to him in person. I have a long notice period of nearly 9 weeks so didnt want to wait another week, and then me have to stay with current job until October - i want to leave end of a month and start new month fresh with new job.
My problem is my boss if very confrontational, always 'right', will argue ANY point just to make a point and always want the last word. As such over time, I have lost a lot of my confidence and that is partly why i am leaving. This along with poor office organisational, and other niggles has led me to resign. My problem is I am quite an emotional person and sometimes when I start talking, my throat gets tight and I start to well up - sounds really stupid but it just makes conversations like the one I am having tomorrow even more difficult. To add to this, I also saw an email by accident last week between two of my colleagues, clearly not meant for me but quite nasty in its content about me, and one i wish i hadnt seen. Whislt i dont got to work to make friends, I genuinly thought these people were my friends. I give them lifts home when they get stuck, help them out etc and now i feel really sad they have spoken about me in this way.
Basically just after any tips that will help me get through a monday morning meeting where my boss is probably in a foul mood already from coming back to work after a holiday and then me sitting him down at 9.10 to say im leaving...! Thanks :)

I'd lay money on it that your boss probably has a tiny willy, and the stamina of a shrew. In fact his wife probably laughs at him whilst she is with the milkman.
As for your colleagues, screw 'em. If they don't have the balls to bitch about you to your face but instead abuse your good nature, then they're not worth wasting brain power over. Just rest assured that they're probably bitching about each other to the rest of the office as well.

Remember it's you who hold all the cards - you are leaving a not too good environment and moving on - your boss and your so called friends are staying - whatever they say or do they will really not want you to goYwill have given them a shock by taking the initiative by handing in your notice and well done you - believe me they are the losers. Hold your head up, continue to work out your notice to the best of your ability and really good luck in your next job.
