Mother Lets 12yo Daughter Have Sex.

Is this woman, who put her daughter on the pill at age 11, and who now allows her, at 12, to have sex with a 14yo boyfriend, fit to be a parent?
She's condoning the boy to commit unlawful sexual intercourse/rape with her own daughter.
Surely she ought to be prosecuted and have her children taken into protective custody?

This 'newspaper' looks pretty dubious to me; it is loaded with manipulatively emotive terms like "allows her to have sex", followed by "teddy-filled, pink and white bedroom", "Emma, who loves sweets and Disney movies such as The Little Mermaid".

Just makes me terribly sad....at the risk of being labelled nauseatingly kind that the mother obviously believed possibly based on her own life experience this was the right thing to do...how many generations of this family have and will live this way.? ..see it a lot in the area near where I live....mere kids, some obviously under 16 pushing their buggies or very pregnant....at least the daughter is on the pill so its only STD's and psychological damage she's at risk from....but I know deep down what the future is likely to bring here...

Sqad...at 12 I was being chatted up by men old enough to be my dad....and wondering why....found out soon enough... luckily I had a very enlightened mother who had ensured we knew no subject was taboo and we could ask her anything... only good thing about her as a parent to be honest...

Sounds like a responsible Mother to me. She knew her daughter had had sex and got her on contraception. They'd be more moaning if she got pregnant.

In the article she didn't come across as a Mother who didn't care. More like a Mother that did and wanted better for her daughter than what she'd experienced. She said that she wouldn't encourage her to have sex but the fact is she did and the Mother dealt with it. There is no way you can stop them having sex once they have started unless you keep them locked up. She done what she had to do...

As answerprancer said though....It is loaded with emotive terms and worded in such a way to make us judge the Mother in a negative light. The fact that she has children by two different fathers has nothing to do with this story.

Having worked alongside our NHS Teenage Pregnancy team for a while, in a part of the country with a hihg incidence of schoolgirl mothers, this seems to me to be a sensible mother protecting her child, if the child is going to do it anyway - but what a message it's giving out to other kids. Both children are under age for consent, but I daresay that these days they are only doing what other youngsters are also doing. We can't compare it with when we were their age (I barely knew what it was all about at the age of 12!) and public views and mores have changed so much. I still remember going to my GP for contraceptive advice when I was 19 and engaged, and my GP told me that I ought to wait until I was married, and "what would my mother think?"
I don't like the story in this post, but at least it is better to be safe than sorry if the young girl couldn't be persuaded to bide her time. A parent I know prefers that relationships with her (admittedly a little older) children happen at home, too, rather than scruffily round the back of the bike shed.
As rowan says, one only hopes that they are both aware of the dangers of STIs which are prevalent in younger people these days.

for goodness sake why does a 12 year old have to have a boyfriend? she is too young and it will derail her education. she is on the pill now but when she decides she wants a little baby of her own because all her friends have one she will ditch her pills and claim its an accident.

Lets hoping they are on their first partners and by the time this relationship ends they have more common sense to worry about STI's.

I disagree though. My daughter had a few friends that were pregnant before 16 and she looked at them like they were fools.

I had a boyfriend at 12.....no sex though. Or snogging come to think about it. In my day the question in the playground was 'have you snogged yet'? instead of 'have you shagged yet?'

I lived on a chavvy benefit council estate for almost 10 years, these girls became breeding farms and once one started then they were all off wanting kids, now the place is full of 14/15 year old girls with a baby in a puschair and up the spout with the next one

the implant is a good idea, lets hope it stays in until she grows up mentally enough to evolve from these "relationships"
