What was the name given to Henry Kissinger's softly-softly approach to Cold War tensions - I've found references to realpolitik and detente, but neither really seems to fit the description of Softly-softly! Any suggestions gratefully received.

But I'm not too sure he had a softly-softly approach. This was the man who backed a coup in Chile and launched the secret bombing of Cambodia and Laos. Nothing very soft about that. Detente may be your besst answer.
