/// Dr Dreger and her colleagues are concerned that medical attempts to prevent homosexuality will arise in the future if sexual orientation is found to be determined by human biology.///

/// 'Evidence that homosexual orientation is inborn, could very well lead to new means of pathologisation [treating it like a medical condition] and prevention,' they warned in a recent paper.///

Wouldn't it depend on the risk to the unborn baby in this hyperthetical situation? You can have tests for all sorts of things these days but some put the health/life of the baby at risk (I believe) so women don't do it. I'd rather have a gay child than one I managed to give a disability to. Or risk its life.

I can see why a parent might want to save the child from a life that is harder than is needed, (gay and lesbian people do still suffer from prejudices I think) but I would rather other people learn just not to shove their intolerences on others, then life would probably be less difficult for all concerned.

(Apologies if this answer has already been given but the thread is several pages and I only have one cup of tea and a biscuit before I'm officially 'off my break').

We also don't know what genetic material will be needed in the future it may be at some point after a natural disaster where existance becomes dangerous that there will be survival benefits to having non breeding members in your group to support both child rearing and group protection roles...
Doc ......the blood of charlatans and non believers
jth states "If she takes the pill, she will definitely have a heterosexual child..........if she doesn't there is only a 50/50 (in simple terms) chance that she'll have a gay child."

A 50/50 chance??? Only in the context of 'yes she will/no she won't'.....Certainly not in the context of '% of straight people to % of gays'
That's why I wrote 'simple terms', Einstein..........
Hey jth, how did you know that was my middle name?

You're soooooo clever you are
joeluke, pipe down!
sara....I'm not the one who comes out with playground childish name calling
Have I offended your delicate sensibilities, joeluke ?
but you were asking for it ;o)
jth, where did i say I was offended?

You're usually articulate enough to get your point across without plumbing the depths of the pathetic name calling that some on here who aren't clever enough to think of decent comebacks tend to resort to
I mention Einstein in response to a post from you dealing with percentages, etc.......and you view that as an insult......?
The way you wrote it, yes

Got lots of colourful 'names' I could use in my replies to the likes of you but I'm bigger than that
Oooooo..........."the likes of me"...........?

C'mon then, big boy...........
LOL...I just had a mischievous thought.
I'm imagining Morpheus being my 'birth control agent' offering me either the blue pill in order to give birth to a baby that will become a strapping, macho, beer-sipping heterosexual geezerbloke, or the pink pill for a sensitive, limp-wristed friend of Dorothy who is good with colours.
'the likes of you' = people who resort to childish name calling

I knew you'd take it the wrong way
LOL @ Jackthehat vs Joeluke..
"Push me? shove you, Oh yeah, sez who?" Crash bonk wallop tinkle tinkle...
answerprancer ...it.s a joke, I have given joe the benefit of my vast experience with MIs JTH and told him to give her the last word. It is pathetic.
aah but she's met her match now sqad and doesn't get the last word with me
joe, I didn't think you'd need back up, lol!

and don't you know.. sometimes NOT having the last word IS having the last word?

no?
