Hague Banditry news item.....
It seems this is all based on the fact that they once shared a twin room. So are 2 people of the same sex sharing a room now deemed Gay by default?

No I couldn't. There are some characteristics which make you think, "Ah, he's probably gay" or "She's probably straight", but these are based on old stereotypes. I doubt very much that upon having a drink with Gareth Thomas in a bar in Cardiff after a match you would've walked away thinking, "He's gay".

In your example sqad, I'd say there's a good chance. I'm little suprised though that rather than answer a serious question or better still keep quiet you chose to try and ridicule me for seeking clarification, in this case mainly from a known gay, ie SP. for example Gareth Thomas is the last person I'd expect to be gay but I just wondered if another gay could spot one by certain mannerisms etc that would be missed by the straight person. See I try to enter into a sensible discussion and I get agro!
"I think it was a tactical error to release the statement. Yes, the rumours were circulating on the net, but so what? Over the past few years, there have been loads of Internet based rumours which eventually die out when they run out of steam. By going on record to deny the rumours, he himself has made it a national story"
I think this argument lacks empathy.
Rumours don't consistently buzz around for years - they crop up and down in the media again and again. The last time they did so was, as you point out, years ago. But I think there's a few important differences now. As Hague said in his statement, I can well believe that it's simply very frustrating to know that the press are spreading seedy rumours about you. Combine that with the stress of being in high office for the first time and with the fact that he says the couple have recently lost another pregnancy. The man does have the right to try and counter the public rumors in a public way - which he's done convincingly.
