Wondows updates
I have just got a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have set everything up on the laptop and it works perfectly fine and runs as I expected.
However, windows updates told me that I have 68 updates need to be installed on my new laptop, which is fine. The only annoying me is that it took almost 3 hours just to install 1 update. After leaving for few hours, and still doing the first update, I got fed up and shut the laptop down manually.
I checked the updates and most of them were only like less than 1MB size.
My questions are:
1. Why does it take so long to install 1 update for small size of file?
2. From the list of updates received, can I just choose what updates that I want to install on my laptop? If I can, how do I do that?
3. How to disable automatic updates?
4. How to set manual updates so that I can check the updates and install as and when?
Thank you very much for your help

This has happened to me before, I have been waiting for Windows updates to install, and nothing was happening, when I minimized the main window there was a small one underneath waiting for my input.
Change your Windows update setting to Custom Install then you can pick and choose which ones to install. To be honest you may as well take them all as some fixes in the future will require those fixes anyway.

Set your computer to automatic updates at a time when you are using your computer the least. You can install them when you want BUT INSTALL ALL OF YOUR CRITICAL ONES and leave the optional ones just check them any that you think you may need install them. The reason that you have 68 updates is that you are starting from scratch Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 home users will be out early next year. In the Control Panel go to System and Security and open it and then click on Windows Update and then you can set your schedule for the updates
