As they intend to increase passengers which means increased baggage and weight wont this be more dangerous also how can you get into the "Crash position" if you are upright?
Are prepared to fly in a deathtrap just for cheaper seats?
The article says "Air safety regulator the CAA is expected to turn down any proposals to introduce the 'standing seats' on UK airlines"
So this means that will introduce these to non uk planes? What about planes coming to the uk from elsewhere, will they be able to use standing room or these upright seats?
I think if the thing goes down, you've had it anyway. The crash position is just designed to give you something interesting to do with the last few seconds of your life.
The safest way to sit is facing the back of the aircraft, but airlines don't implement that because people don't like facing backwards.
Also it sends out the wrong message - ie 'We've got you facing the best way, because there's a possibility we might crash'.
No-one wants to be reminded of that possibility.
The write-up I saw says the seating is similar to the passenger seat on a scooter, which always looks very precarious to me. It says the seats will be a fiver - I'd rather pay a bit more and sit down.
You probably have to put in on just in case and you get ejected through the roof in an emergency. Looks a very comfortable way to travel - not. All packed in like sardines! No thanks!!
Actually, I used to work at Luton Airport and when they flew horses out to Ireland they had to stand!! Perhaps they will provide feeding troughs with these seats. The horse poo had to be cleaned out after the flight - so likewise no loos will be needed.
Yep, AYG. And when you are flying over your destination they will just push you all out the doors and throw your 1kg allowance of luggage out after you!
