Ante Natal Classes at school?
Good or bad? Would it normalise teenage pregnancy? Would it create envy among school girls and hence encourage others to get up the duff?
Oh it's on the front page of the daily Mail by the way!

Let's get back to the days when having children out of wedlock and underage was seen as a stigma. Yes I accept that both still happened in those days, but it wasn't socially acceptable or seen as a passport to an easier life (ie, living on the social with free houses etc).
So no, I don't think it's a good idea at all.

Really sandy?
You ought to live where I do then. I serve, all day long too, young teen mums, pushing prams who are spending money on booze, cigs, and lottery tickets like it's going out of fashion.
Oh and to rub salt in the wounds, they buy spuds, and full fat milk with Sure Start Milk tokens, none of which is obviously going on the babies in the prams they're pushing.

My parents wouldn't have been angry, but they would have been upset and embarrassed and I would have hated to put them in that position. Nowadays some parents seem positively overjoyed when their 'barely out of nappies themselves' offspring get pregnant. Ooooh, I'm going to be a grandma, how exciting. I will look after it whilst little Britney goes back to school!!
I know what its like to live with a stigma, I got pregnant before I was married, It was talked about behind closed doors, people muttered under their breath, neighbours weren't told, relations weren't told, Marriage was quickly arranged with almost a shot-gun to my husbands head.We weren't silly teen-agers either, he was 26 and me 23. We have been happily married ever since.

I wonder if we are now reaping the results of our failure to address 'sex-education' in schools. The "don't-teach-'em-about-it-or-they'll-be-at-it
-like-rabbits"
approach has spectacularly failed.
We need to have sensible discussions with teenagers, not just about the 'getting jiggy' bit, but about the entire emotional aspect of sex............
I have long felt that just teaching the mechanics to pro-creation is really neither use nor ornament.
If your teenager came home from school and told you that he/she had learnt all about the workings of the internal combustion engine................................would you then be happy to hand over the keys to your car ?
