Watching TV news last night, I could not believe it when I saw a senior cop of the West Midlands police, squirming and apologising to the 'community' for daring to install CCTV cameras in mainly Muslim areas, even though these cameras have never been switched on and still remain covered.

I wonder if they will apologise to us for all the CCTV cameras that are in full operation in mainly white areas?

I purposely chose a link from across the 'pond' to highlight the comments of how others see us.

The local community were told that they were being installed for crime prevention reasons.

then it transpired that this was a lower than average crime area and that it had been funded out of the anti-terrorism budget.

In other words someone had decided that because they were muslims they were terrorist suspects.

That's the sort of racial profiling that we'd expect of you AOG - not of a senior police officer

Whilst it is true the majority of muslims are not terrorists the majority of terrism affecting the West currently are Muslim.

When has terrorism not been a crime?

In the present terrorist alert, if a bomb goes off somewhere is Birmingham for instance, any police officer senior or otherwise would be lacking in his duty, not to suspect members of the Muslim community.

Like it or not we're all exposed to cameras wherever we go. I'm a law abiding citizen but no one ever apologised to me so why should anyone else expect an apology?

let's see, the police lied to the public they 'serve' about what they were doing, didn't bother with oversight or monitoring the project, ignored the laws dealing with covert cameras... what on earth could possibly be wrong with all that?

Are you asking which Muslims aren't terrorists or which terrorists aren't Muslim?

If it's the former, then the answer is 'practically all of them'.
If it's the latter, then the answer is 'the IRA' (although not exclusively!)

I have seen many people on here complain that speed cameras should be banned because they were told that they were introduced for safety reasons and they are just for making money from the motorist.

Now we have cameras introduced for one purpose but used for another, and the same people who objected about the misuse of cameras, are now supporting their misuse.

Yes they should IMO, this country is absolutely bristling with CCTV cameras - talk about Big Brother.

I agree again, only to add that the vast majority of terrorists are Muslim.
