If you are an employer with a large number of very technical high value staff you want to take as many of them as possible with you. It costs a lot of money to re-recruit, retrain and integrate new staff into your organisation.
Anything you can do to increase the numbers of those taking up the relocation is money well spent.
It's a good investment in making a relocation a sucess - I know RS, the Mail and I suspect you wouldn't want anything the BBC does to be a sucess but there you go

You could be right, jake, but the BBC itself does not do a very good job of promoting the commercial advantages of the move. True, they do waffle on about nebulous advantages such as “centres of excellence”, “production clusters”, “...base for attracting talent” and other BirtSpeak. They also suggest that because some independent production companies have their headquarters there, then they too must follow.
