Why is the Chancellor classed as the top job? All that responsibility along with all the brickbats.
Surely the best job would be Foreign Secretary, you get to see the world.

Next to the prime minister it is the chancellor that is most remembered. We can all remember Lawson and Howe not to mention Brown.
Ed Milibands choice needs some explaining for his new chancellor. He may be a good commicator but Alan Johnson seems completely out of his depth. The obvious choice of either Ed Balls or his wife for the post were discounted. It makes you wonder why? My theory is that he is really intending to operate the economy himself and use Johnson as a mullible stand-in to take his orders.

it may be that he has learned from Blairs mistake. Do not have someone who wants your job living next door. Balls is the bvious shadow Chancellor, but is also an obvious threat in the future.
Though, having an obviously crap Shadow Chancellor instead is not a great move. Osborne is dim and Johnson is dull. Who will win the battle of mediocrity is anyone guess.
