why wont some gangsters like mafia or some british ones wont go near the drugs trade but they go near any other racket

The perceived attitude of the Mafia is that its traditions from its earliest inception regard drugs as being beneath them - in plain terms, it is the trade of lesser organisations such as the black street gangs whom the old mafia Dons rregarded as beneath them.

It's a peculiar 'homour' code that some rackets are immoral, others are not - even though they are all criminal in terms of activity and rewards.

so called gangsters are also people with their own views and opinions and as such some of them will be totally against drugs and wouldn't get involved in them.

Exactly the same logic applies to UK gangsters.

In the fifties and sixties when drugs were first becoming the preserve of criminals, a lot of established gangs regarded drugs as beneath them, and fit only for the emerging West Indian immigrant criminals - and as such, they avoided dealing in them.

Economics may be more important than morals.It's harder for British gangs to get near the source of supply.Colombians haven't got that problem. Our boys prefer economic frauds.Much less messy, fewer people involved, fewer 'logistical' problems, low chance of conviction (even when the Serious Fraud Office or 'Serious Farce Office' gets involved there's a really good chance of a defence result), all in all a better activity.

Each group probably just has it's own racket and apparently it's hard to break into another gang's drug turf without that gang breaking into your head and chest with various armaments.
