To all those ABers that have in the past 'poo-poo'd' any idea of Islamic extremists gaining a powerful foothold in English politics should they now consider the frightening possibilities if this person becomes the Mayor of Tower Hamlets?
There are much more serious implications attached to this possibility than could ever be gained from a similar scenario of a Far-Right candidate gaining the same position of Mayor.
/// According to one of its own leaflets, the 'Islamic Forum of Europe' (IFE), based at the hardline East London Mosque in Tower Hamlets – wants to change the "very infrastructure of society, its institutions, its culture, its political order and its creed … from ignorance to Islam." ///

About fourpence at a guess, if my local council is anything to go by. Anyway, the mayor can apply that to fundamentalist activities (in so far as what he does is legal ).
What do you think he'll be able to do? Change the tenor of the essential activities to hardline Islam? In what way and to what extent?

I think there would be many more influential people than myself to show concern if he gained the office of executive mayor of a council, with almost total control over its £1 billion budget.
/// However, it would also raise even more serious concerns about radical Islam's political power in the UK ///
Obviously you don't agree with this comment also?
/// Six serving and former Labour councillors told us they had been threatened by a senior IFE official that the group would mobilise its supporters against them if they did not choose Mr Rahman as their leader. /// .
Useful people to have around!!!!!
Interesting to know what your comments would have been if that had been Nick Griffin who was so close to the office of executive mayor ?
