The brave French people

Now that France is on strike, were are all the posts praising the French for their bravery and steadfastness against things they feel are un-French and lamenting that we're not more like them?
Or is it only Muslim and Gypsy bashing that they're to be esteemed for?

Having mentioned Queen Wilhelmina I cannot let the occasion pass without mentioning the time shortly before WWI when the Kaiser visited Holland. After reviewing a military parade he commented on the short stature of the Dutch soldiers, adding, "In Germany our soldiers are all 7 ft tall".

"Indeed, cousin", replied the Queen, "but don't forget that in Holland all our dykes are 10 ft tall."

Zeuhl. Shame on you. I was brought up on the story of a little Dutch boy who stuck his finger into the hole of a dyke and thus saved the nation from disaster. An example of heroism we would do well to emulate.

When France capitulated in 1940 , they also largely changed sides. Their navy refused to join us and they and their colonies actually fought us . In fact the French killed more of us than they did the Germans. General De Gaulle tried to rally his nation but with limited success.

I think the French who are on strike would be sensible to get back to work pretty quickly. They have a perfect right to come over there and work and then they'd have to work until they're 67 or possibly even later before getting their pensions instead of receiving them at age 62 in France. They should recognise a good thing when they see it. French state pensions have been unaffordable for years,and the present move to increase the state retirement age there is long overdue.

The French are well known for being rude and arrogant. They think nothing of closing their ports if something upsets them causing huge traffic tailbacks.

The French military pension has been frozen since the 60s for former colonial troops who fought the Gemans in WW2 despite the E.U telling them not to.
People acclaim the French when they are reactionary against immigrants, Gypsies and Muslims, less so when it comes to laying their hands on cheap plonk.
