Why are they not being prosecuted for theft ?
15 Answers
They should be stripped of their peerages immediately and not be allowed to hold or officiate in public office in any way or form.
They are calculating lying thieves and as such are not to be trusted. These were not one off admin errors, they were premeditaded calculated thefts over a period of time
Why are they not going to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
So its ok to prosecute a benefit cheat and make big capital out of it, but low lifes like these will just get a slap on the wrist and its "business" as usual. Media URL: http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/oct/18/three-peers-suspended-from-lords-over-expenses

Their reason appears to be that the rules governing peers' claims were even worse in than those for MPs' and subsequently were rewritten so that peers could claim for a house which they never occupied for any more than a day a month. The CPS must have thought that it was difficult to prove dishonesty, to the required standard in criminal law, if the Lords itself set standards so low and then set them lower. Can't see it myself, certainly in Baroness Uddin's case. Her claims were grotesquely false. She was living four miles from the Lords while claiming for a flat which nobody was ever living in, nor showed signs of doing so, during the period she claimed for.
i don't think they should be able to claim for houses and stuff.
if they need to gowork in a different a b&b is sufficient enough, they should go by train in normal class and have to pay theirself to upgrade to 1st class.
we can't claim for our houses and travel expenses, they get paid enough really.
i would throw the book at them to be fair.
next ones would think twice before doing it

>they are no better than those that fiddle the benefits system....
Far worse, because these people are supposed to be in a position of trust and leadership, plus they already get expenses etc.
I notice all three are Asian which backs up what I have said for a long time that the Asian mentallity is to fiddle every opportunity they can.
