My husband had a big button saying "Maggie for Queen" when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister - joke of course! I think I will try and find it and rub off Maggie and put Camilla. that will put the cat among the pigeons!
He didn't really, his answer was; "Hummyah, it could be possible" or something like that. I wonder if she has any other first names - Queen Camilla sounds like a carnation.
Yes, absolutely. What's happened in the past should not come into it. If she is married to our King then she is our Queen. What would be the point of calling her "Princess Consort" instead of "Queen Consort"? A rose by any other name......
If QE2 has any sense she will do a Queen Mum and see one of her kids off to the smoke-house before she pops her blocks. And, in this case, it would be Charles out of the way. My experience of many American is that they think that PW will get the nod over PC. They dont realise we are not like the Royal Bin-Liners of Saudi (who like Jewish heritance) who deem the best to lead......we have a certain Act of Succession that dictates these materrs, dating from 1702 I believe.
You're right, of course, Jaydah. The Prince Consort has to be called so because to call him King would mean that he outranked the Sovereign Queen. That is not the case when the Sovereign is male. His wife has always been called Queen and to call Camilla "Princess" when Charles is King would be both inaccurate and churlish.
nothing particularly churlish about Prince Albert and Prince Philip (well, lots that's churlish about Prince Philip, actually), but they've muddled through without being called King, and so will Camilla.
Does it really matter, but I must admit it would be better to have a King & Queen, instead of a King and any another title they care to give to his wife.
Incidentally Queen Victoria made Prince Albert her Prince Consort, why did our Queen not give Philip the same title instead of The Duke of Edinburgh?
because Phil has a history, never mind Mountbatten meddling........things on his 'history' will emerge in the future..... however, this maybe a 90th birthday pressie next year
There some thinking that if he does, he wil take the title George VII - on the basis that those kings titled Charles havent done too well...... If he has his head off, I wonder what the Daily Mail will be?
