Personally I don't want to get nicked for using mouthwash so I'd go with a trace amount but generally I think it's a good idea. You can currently drink a surprising amount and still be legal which i clearlt wrong.

Piety alert, piety alert..........I love a good drink, I really love getting stuck-in to a good session, but here's the thing, if I know I'm going to have a drink, even one pint, I don't drive and never have.

It really is very simple.

That said, I'm not convinced a zero limit is a good idea because, for example, you could still have traces the following morning even though you are completely sober and perfectly capable of driving as if you hadn't had a drink for days.
but who says you are prefectly capable of driving?
Because you're sober. They have done many many tests on how alcohol effects you. That's how they came up with the limit.
I would know whether I was perfectly capable of driving or not - wouldn't you?
That said, I've seen plenty of stone-cold-sober people that are incapable of driving.

In fact, most of them live around here. :-(
thats just it, you THINK you are capable of driving but as amny a person will tell you after being stopped, youre not
i wouldnt ever drink and drive anyway
Not even if you ate a sherry trifle Gina?
dont like trifle
I have been tested without being involved in an incident...the police had set up a pull in and were pulling in and testing about every third driver. I was driving my DH and couple of his mates home after a very posh convivial evening...they weren't anywhere near smashed but deffo over the limit and cheerful (middle aged men in dinner jackets) Nice policeman says to me "When did you last have a drink?" me "about 20.00 the day before yesterday" (its 01.00) him "well I need to test you as I can smell alcohol in the car" My DH "well if you can't officer, we've all been wasting our time and money"
Nic policeman gives up the struggle to stay serious, breathalyses me and sends me on my way...on the way out I drove straight over one of their cones!!
People know whether they are perfectly capable of driving or not - those that do risk-it after a pint or two are chancers and they know they are.
flip flop, they THINK they know, you only have to watch these police camera... programmes to see that
I iknow I'm labouring my point here, but i simply can't see the issue with a zero tolerance system.

I really don't think the world would cease to spin on its axis if drivers were told they could no longer used certain brands of mouthwash, or eat sherry trifle!

If you elect to drive, then you elect not to drink - or intake alcohol through any other food or drink, it's really that simple.
I agree ... It really is that simple.
i totally agree
i think as well that most mouthwsh is now alcohol free
mouthwash with alcohol in isn't good for the teeth or gums anyway....the sherry tifle argument is just spurious...my mum who never drank used to make a sherry trifle that would knock and elephant over and as for her brandy butter.....wow!!

Any day you like butch -

Youhave decided that you wish to drive a vehicle, therefore you do not intake alcohol.

It's a simple adult choice - you make it, you stick to it. Loads of people stay alive because of your decision.

Problem?
