First scalp of the exes cheats, let's predict the sentence, I'm going with 2k fine + exes + 200hours community work. Doubt he'll get jail.

// A husband and wife from Ashton-under-Lyne pleaded guilty to claiming in excess of £28,000 in benefits, over a nine year period.
In sentencing the couple received a 13-month suspended prison sentence and were ordered to pay £955 in costs. //

Reading that article, it seems that £20,000 is the mimimum he can considered to have stolen.
Some of his "claims" are dubious to say the least, and flipping his house 6 times (once to his sons house so he could claim for work that was done on the house) borders on the criminal.
These people were supposed to be our rulers and some are nothing more than fraudsters and swindlers.
I think he needs a prison sentence to teach them all a lesson.

VHG, I think you're unfairly mixing in those who were working honestly within an expenses system that was deeply dodgy, and those like this guy who were actively defrauding it. Most were just claiming expenses that were permissible, which is what non-MPs do too. The system needs changing (and I'm not sure it has been) but it's the criminals who need dealing within court.
