Do we waste money making petrol up to round pounds?
26 Answers
Like many others with a tidy mind when we put fuel into our cars and finish by gently clicking the nozzle lever for the last few pence to get to even pounds..... do we get any fuel?
I suspect not, so in order for us to get what we are paying for would it not be better to have the hoses dangling downwards so that the last of the fuel is gravity assisted?
Probably another elf'n safety issue, we will soon have to wear a Hi-Vis jacket....
Is there an allowance for any shortage built in by the weights and measures/trading standards people?

There is no extra petrol in the depensing end other than what has been paid for, The hose is always full then bit with the handle is the cut off. if you press gently to get a few pence to round up the figure you get a few pence worth of fuel. When the pump has stopped raise the handle with the open end pointing vertically downward into your tank and you will have got all that you have paid for, rattle side to side and get a drip more still what you have paid for! Surely this is 100% obvious!
