What is political Correctness?

I can do no better than the winner of the Uniiversity of Arkansas competition to answer the above question: "Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of Sugar by the clean end. "

Seriously though, it's a good concept spoilt by snotty terminology and occasional exaggerated useage IMO.
Similarly "organic" food, I find this term snotty too - just because some food has a few chemicals on it doesn't stop it from being organic.

PC is the perception of a group of people by another group of people, the first group don't want to offend the second group so attempt to ensure that nothing can be said about the second group at all, by anyone, unless it is positive.

This then includes everything no matter how inaccurate, ridiculous or stupid such a view or course of action may be.

People in the second group may not actualy mind certain things, like the parents of young children letting them climb trees, full aware that the child may fall. These people are referred to by the PC as "delusional"

To me political correctness is the act of telling people how to feel and making them feel guilty if they do not feel the way they should be feeling as decided by....
