Are Christmas Cards becoming obsolete ?
We all receive Chrismas Cards from whom we have no other communication throughout the year.
Some cards are are not personally signed others have a first name only . Some are sent only because they have received one from you, others as a sense of duty, and this year apparently millions have been emailed.
I know children love to receive cards but between adults has the meaning been lost ?

I think it's nice to be remembered and catch up with people you're not likely to see for some time. I do agree though, the "duty" cards are a bit of a pain, I cut out three this year that I felt wouldn't send one to me if I didn't send myself. They haven't sent.
I had one from someone I think I met on holiday 10 years ago. They must have found an old CC list.
Some people just love sending cards, we have a neighbour who sends one to everyone in the street . She doesn't know most of them them or communicates in any other way but she's been doing this for years. She doesn't include an address so presumably she's not expecting a reply. She used to post them but for the last couple of years she delivers them by hand.

I don't think their obsolete at all. I enjoy writing my cards, often putting a hand written note in. I also enjoy receiving cards and catching up with old friends. Not that all my cards are from people I don't see very often. And if they are signed with first name only, what's the problem with that? (Unless you know two couples called Phil and Barbara (as I do), the only problem is if you don't know which one sent you the card - in this case I can usually tell from the post mark. But if I get two cards both signed Phil and Barbara then I know that both couples have sent me one!
