Gay couple in B&B
I see that the gay couple who were refused a double room in a B&B have won their case and been awarded £1800 damages. I'm not sure of the background facts, so can't really comment, but the hoteliers were found to have acted unlawfully. Does anyone know which law they actually broke and what the damaged were in respect of?

Oh why oh why did they ever abolish the Gross Indecency Act not so long ago? Probably to allow this kind of depravity to flourish?
Talk about an Englishman's home being his castle? No, not in this country - any more. The tail wagging the dog - yet again.
And as for their mouthpiece, Stonewall, to allegedly target this elderly couple as some form of "sting" is vindictive in the extreme. And then, just to rub salt into the wounds, the Judge also awards those two characters financial compensation - no wonder my cornflakes went flying when I heard about that bit.
Can you just imagine the state of the sheets? Gordon Bennett(+ his boyfriend)! And that old couple would be expected to change them? Jesus H...................it just doesn't bear thinking about.
Just shows you, it's alright to destroy a person's livelihood and to totally ruin their lives as long as it's in the name of hurt feelings, eh? Pathetic. The world's gone mad.

jack-the-hat.
/// You don't strike me as the sort of chap who keeps himself up to date with the progress being made out in the wider world............ ///
You call the the demise of one's civil liberties 'progress' then, well I certainly don't.
If that is keeping oneself 'up to date', then bring back the good old days, we didn't have much but at least we had our freedom.

I suppose it's a good sign that we're shocked when we hear about people with such a ridiculously intolerant attitude, and then use religion to try and justify it. If it's against so called 'unnatural' shennanigans, that's a bit presumtuous really because these chaps might not have been up for it that night so they wouldn't have to worry about potentially dirty sheets (does that happen? I dunno), although Mr & Mrs Carrington-Smythe next door could have been a reet kinky pair so you can't rule that out! It genuinely still baffles me how some people see homosexuality as such a filthy and sordid thing!

And how have your civil liberties been eroded (with regard solely to this issue), AOG ?
