Why is Mohammed the most favourite boys name ?
Christians don't name boys Jesus so I wonder why Mohammed is the most favourite boys name.
It is the first or second amongst all boys names not just restricted to the Islamic world.
You would think being that he is supposed to be the last and greatest of all the prophets his name would be revered not giving to any Tom Dick or Harry or should I say Muhammed , Mohammad or Mahammed.

Although in majority of the countries outside Middle east even if first name is Muhammad still people do not like to be called Muhammad for the reason modeller described when he mentioned Tom Dick or Harry.
DTcrossword I didn't know Spanish speaking countries use the word Jesus but I believe it is not pronounced that way . J is pronounced like an H so we wouldn't recognise it.
I don't know if Christ is a first name or a surname but we do use the name Christine.

Modeller, Jesus is an extremely common name in some countries.
Christ wasn't Jesus' name. Christ comes from the Greek Christos meaning 'the anointed one'. Jesus name would have been something like Yeshua ben Joseph meaning Jesus son of Joseph.
Mohammed's real name was Abu al-Qasim Muhammad Ibn Abd Allah Ibn Abd al-Muttalib Ibn Hashim - and I didn't remember that off the top of my head. I looked it up on the internet - so I hope it's right. :o)
However, this is off the top of my head. Since 'Allah' was unheard of before Mohammed, that bit of his name was obviously added long after he was born.

It came top of the list last year, but ...
The reason it came top of the list is that all the variants of Mohammed were treated as being the same name, and added together. If you do the same thing with Oliver, Mohammed becomes the second most popular boy's name. In the end it all comes down to how you play with the numbers
