Royal Snub for >>>
NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS., MERRY OLD ENGLAND HAVE THEY GOT SOME STARCH IN THEIR BRITCHES.?
Royal snub for the Obama’s:
Prince William and Kate Middleton wedding: President Barack Obama and Michelle are not invited! Michelle is livid over the snub and Obama can’t believe it…
What is happening and what can I do about it seems to be the thoughts in Obama’s head.Meanwhile, William and Kate have it together. Prince William and Kate Middleton are planning a royal wedding April 2011. Prince William personally told the wedding planners to strike the Obama’s from the guest list. He stated, “He did not want Michelle Obama trying to pull her centre of attention ploy trying to upstage Kate on Kate’s wedding day”.

there will be grief - no choice.
The only choice you have is damage limitation - keeping the grief to a minimum - working out whom you can upset, and whom you can;t, and navigating your guest list accordingly, and riding out the storm.
That's fine for me, i am a private citizen.
Those luxuries do not apply to Prince William and his fiancee.
Their wedding is being financed directly, or indirectly, by the public purse, and as a nation, we have protocols to observe in the interests of interntaionl trade and diplomacy.
It;s the equivalent of inviting Auntie Marg because the couple don't really want her there, but the larger family do, so they will compromise and smile on the day.
I've done it, my children have done it, and I don' see why the royals can't do it.
If 'the couple' want only the guests of their choice - they should have a totally private ceremony which they pay for - as long as this is a public event, they have responsibilities over and above the notion of 'upstaging' on the day.

Do you think that the group photo has been doctored,? I know the Queen is small but I didn't think Prince Philip was all that small.

From Oldgit's Mail article above....
// Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a ‘state occasion’ – and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands.
........................................
The decision is an example of William’s single-minded desire to hold the first ever ‘people’s wedding’ by packing the pews with members of the public who have worked with his 21 charities. //
That all seems perfectly reasonable to me.
