Gray sacked - more to it ...
58 Answers
It now seems that Andy Gray has been sacked.
The reason given is a 'suggestive remark' made to a female presenter in respect of the placing of a microphone pouch.
I smell a massive rat here.
If this hapened two months ago - it is apparent that the female presenter did not make an issue of it - from the clip, she either didn't hear Gray, or ignored him, she certainly didn;t appear shocked or offended. The only way Sky could make this a sacking issue is because they have the incident on film and have chosen to resurect it now.
A little perspective i think.
When men and women work regularly together, they develop a level of banter that suits both sides, and as someone who has worked in mixed gender offices for nearly thirty-seven years, i can confirm that some of the exchanges would make a docker blush, but everyone knows nothing is meant by it - and it does appear that this was the case in this instance.
Gray is guilty of stupid and insensitive comments regarding the female assistant, and maybe a weak joke with his collague which has been caught on camera, and would otherwise have been dismissed.
Could his sacking on the evidence of these instances - one of which is weeks old, and appears not to have caused an issue at the time - be anything to do with Gray suing News International in the phone hacking scandal that cost Andy Coulson his job.
The same News International who own Sky, and whose Sky News - a separate entity from Sky Sport - chose to air the comments made by Gray and Keys?
It all seems just a bit too convenient, and in my view, infair in view of the offences.
A suspension, an serious warning, and an on-air apology would have been more apropriate in my view.

Meanwhile, from the Nuts interview in May 2009 ...
Nuts: "Have you ever said anything rude on air?"
Charlotte: "Yes, a few times, instead of saying "six" I've said "sex", but you just brush over it and move on."
Do we Charlotte? We just brush over things and move on, do we? Or do we dig them up again years later and dismiss people from their jobs over these little things??

And here is Charlotte Jackson, topless, holding her t!ts.
Of course, we all understand ... she is NOT trying to attract ANY male attention.
She dislikes unwarranted male attention, remember?

And oiled up, squeezing her boobs, and roaring for the camera ...
(still hoping NOT to attract any male attention ...
... Sky TV have told us she is offended by suggestive male attention, remember?)

JJ..........I think you have adequately made the point that BskyB are behaving hypocritically.
But AG is not going to be able to gain any legal satisfaction in respect of his sacking.....BskyB have torpedoed any thoughts he may have had by releasing his gaffes.
CJ, as an 'on-camera' employee of BskyB, probably has fewer rights over what her bosses can and can't say about her than you would imagine - if she wants to retain her job.

JTH ...
I don't think CJ got AG the sack.
I don't think CJ is bothered by what AG said.
And I don't think the linesman was bothered by what AG said.
Sky TV are using them as pathetic excuses to justify themselves.
And Sky have undermined the linesman's credibility ... not AG.
Plus, is AG claims against Sky TV, CJ's sex industry past will be a big issue, and every lesbian photo shoot she ever did will be splashed over the papers, so her credibility as a serious presenter will also suffer ... beacuse of Sky TV.

ok I agree thee timing is extremely suspicious! however!
He got a warning for his behaviour in November which suggests someone did complain about his actions.
Then is caught TWICE in 2 months behaving inaproriately on national television!
He had to go!!! he has become bigger than the show for a negative reason and you will always be very lucky to keep your job in that scenario!
and also this wasnt some sexist generalisation made at women he attacked a professional of the gam e because she was a woman!!!!! incredibly sexist!

Some very good points from both sides of the argument until Gromit comes along to spoil it.
/// Gray is a kn0b who should have been sacked years ago.///
His crime? He has spoilt Gromit's TV viewing for too long.
/// and whatever spurious reason they are using to get rid of that imbecial, it is very welcome.///
If you must use such words as 'IMBECILE' please first learn to spell it correctly.
Andy Grey may be many things (I don't know him well enough to comment) but he definitely isn't an imbecile, anyone who can rise from nothing to gain a million pound plus job, can't be all that stupid.
/// I not really bothered he got sacked for old man banter, I just rejoice that he has gone, never to offend my ears again, and let him play out the rest of his sad life swapping racist and sexist comments over a round of Golf with with Big Ron.///
'Old Man banter', 'let him play out the rest of his sad life' 'swapping racist and sexiest comments'
Have you proof of his racist comments? And can you honestly say you have never made a sexiest comment in all your life? Because you make many other uncalled for comments.
All totally unnecessary and abusive that adds nothing whatsoever to this debate.

What about Prince Charles gaff when he was accidentally overheard to make these disparaging remarks against Royal Correspondent Nichols Witchell?
"I can't bear that man," he said. "I mean, he's so awful - he really is"
Not even an apology over this.
To get back to the Andy Grey affair, I think he has a good case for unfair dismissal.

What about Prince Charles ?!?
Try and keep your examples 'like for like'...........
Andy Gray was working for his employer when he made comments which his employer found to be bad enough to warrant an end to his employment.
Do you not think that Rupert Murdoch's lawyers haven't scrutinised both AGs contract and the law before they sacked him ?
