I was wondering, the Libyan Rebels, (or whatever you like to call them), are being described as Pro Democracy fighters.

Who first started calling them that, and has anyone told them that they are fighting for Democracy?,

Ah yes the old pro-democracy line, lets all support the pro-democratists get them in finance them. Then in two years wonder why Libya is a fundemental muslim society holding us over an oil barrel.
dunno.

"Libya has no formal constitution. The country's political system is theoretically based on the political philosophy in Muammar al-Gaddafi's Green Book, which combines socialist and Islamic theories and rejects parliamentary democracy and political parties."

so if they say they are fighting against the government for democracy they will theoretically gain the support of the wider world i guess.

You mean like the Taliban used to be?

When they were fighting foreign invaders from the soviet union who were backing a puppet government in Kabul and we called them Mujahadeen?
.
But Gaddafi claims they're influenced by Al Qaeda
He wants the west to back him - so that is a good line to take.

Unfortunately for him, western intelligence and correspondents have found no evidence of that.
"But Gaddafi claims they're influenced by Al Qaeda"

and no doubt he'd also claim hes sane if asked !
Of course, if they were fighting a US-backed regime, they'd be called insurgents.
There is a group, Al Qaeda in the Maghreb. Is Libya part of the Maghreb?
The Maghreb is excellent.

I would recommend the Chicken Jalfrezzi. And their Sag Bhajee is also very good.
the Maghreb is Muslim North Africa, so Libya's part of it.
...uh, but Chicken Jalfreezi isn't one of its constituent countries, so I suspect someone's pulling Zeuhl's leg. To be on the safe side, just order pie and chips.
If the Egyptians can get rid of a crazy tyrant, then the Libyans can do the same....I dont know,i dont care and i dont give a flying 3uck....Goodnight,all.....
