Should Britain be involved in the no-fly Zone in Libya
They sell us oil at highly inflated prices; they set themselves up as a committee called OPEC to keep the price high; most of them are Muslim countries and have a religion foreign to ours which causes unrest.
Today the Arab council are meeting in Egypt to discuss the uprest in Libya. It is thought they will insist of having a no-fly zone to prevent the civilians being attacked by Libyan jet fighters.
This suggestion has already been discussed in the EU yesterday and with the exception of Cameron and Sarcozy the idea has been thrown into the long grass.
Of course if there were to be a no-fly zone muggins such as Britain and the US would take the lead.
Why can't the Arabs do their own fly zone? Saudi Arabia has many advanced jets with pilots to match. Why should we always be lumbered with their problems while they soak us dry?

As far as oil is concerned - that is pure greed and blaming Libya wont do any good as they only supply 2% of the world's oil. For the rising prices blame traders and the greedy government who are rubbing their hands as prices to up - the higher the price at the pumps the more tax they get.

Why should we ? I don't remember the rebels protesting against the Lockerbie bombing or 9/11 and 7/7 . On the contrary I remember them in Benghazi cheering as they did when
Megrahi was released . It was not just Gadaffi's supporters. The Libyans are basically anti-west. They want our money and we want their oil , friendship has nothing to do with it .
As for the UN, when it comes to the crunch involving military action it never get unanimous support. The only thing it is good at is talking and giving our money to dodgy charities .
None of this is new, the old League of Nations could have stopped WW II had it acted against aggressors like Fascist Italy when it invaded Albania and Abyssinia. As for the US they even left the League rather than get involved.

Arabs are once again trying to involve the west in a comflict which should be sorted out by them. It is well known that muslims will not set about their "brothers". Saudi Arabia tried to get the US to sort out Iran, because they didn't want to do it themselves. This sort of scenario only adds fuel to the fanatics fire in hating the west and all it stands for. If the west ever went to the wall, who would these people call on to sort out their petty little squabbles?
The answers are pretty unaninous. We should keep our noses out!
Just look at the consequences by helping the insurgents aginst Gaddafi. It will make them stronger and able to tackle Gaddafi on a more even level playing field. But they still won't have enough arms to defeat him. So the consequence is the civil war will drag on much longer maybe even years. The nation will still be divided and there will be mass defections from Libya spilling over to Europe.
Currently Gaddafi holds the whip hand and a short war duration will mean everyone can get back to their business and oil will flow normally again.
