They didn't even bother to attend the hearing....
One of the parents reported them missing so presumeably they were concerned
No mention of those accused being called paedophiles why is that?

Regardless of the fact that these two young girls were allowed out at that time of the morning, their wayward character, and that fact that the parents should now be hauled before the courts, what these 6 men did was wrong.

/// They also said that in the circumstances, if the activities had taken place just four weeks later than they had, when the main girl would have turned 13, none of the defendants would have faced any criminal charges because of the defence provided by her actions.///

So it would seem that had the main girl been 13 at the time, non of these men would have faced prosecution, that is amazing truly amazing.

Because the girls told them they were 16. A paedophile has interest in pre-pubescent children. Not children that look and act like they are legal..

Still technically a paedophile, no matter how you wish to dress it up.
"As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia (or paedophilia) is typically defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 and older) characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary). "

As the idiots involved thought the girls were all 16..........perhaps we should call them 'inadvertent paedophiles' ?
Oh right...maybe people should ask for ID first then AOG..

If someone says they are 16 and they look 16 why would you think...Oh, hang on a minute you might be 12..

Girls are different in 2011 than they were in your day. They no longer where flowery dresses and have pig tails...
paedophilia isn't an offence, it's just a sexual preference, and these guys didn't have it. They aren't 'technically paedophiles', though they are sex offenders.

ummmm, you may be right (though I realise you were joking). The men may well have been unlucky that it didn't happen a month later. The onus should be on them to check - but how would they do that? ID might be a start.

No excuse at all, that is no defence "I thought she was 16".

Ask any corner shop owner when he sells a can of extra strong cider to an under-age kid.

"He looked 18 so I thought he was 18"

Blimey I knew we now lived in a more liberal society, but I didn't realise it was no longer an offence.
Completely different AOG and you know it.
it is not an offence, aog. Having sex with a person under age is. Paedophilia is a medical term, not a legal one. It describes a condition, not an action.
It's really simple AOG...the law cannot control a person feelings and thoughts. It can control if they act on them.
