Had a mammogram the other day and got talking to other ladies waiting and we debated whether it's easier to have a mammogran or a smear test. Mammogram for me every time !!!
Sorry gents not one for you ....
Mammograms every time. There is nothing quite so humiliating as a smear test. Why don't they ever do it in a room with a locking door - always with half closed curtains or a door that everyone and his mate walk through!
Lankeela, you should say it to the nurse/doc that is taking your smear that you would prefer the door was locked etc.
The nurse at the clinic where I go always locks the door.
I have never had a mammogram although I did have an ultrasound before for a lump in my breast. It was a bit uncomfortable. Having a smear test is essential, I think over thinking it makes it seem worse than it is especially as it is over so quick. I will never complain about having a smear again after having a loop excision last week following a colposcopy...
The colposcopy was uncomfortable, it wasn't sore, the loop excision was a little sore though because of getting the anaesthetic beforehand.. The procedure may not of been nice but I know it was necessary(sp?) and would rather that than the abnormal cells developing into something worse.
My mam had a mammogram yesterday as said it was uncomfortable but was over in no time.
grass, if that was to prevent anything further, then yep, I'd accept serious squeezing (not meaning to sound trite) It just sounds and appears (on TV shows) to be so painful, but a moments discomfor and a lifetime ahead ,,, I'd go for the mammogram any day of the week
I've given up smears they do hurt, I had many cone biopsies and they are so painful. I do not feel that I am at risk now. Still have the boobies squashed every 2 years and I swear it's making them dangly!!!
