What is a good reply

What is a good reply to save embarrassment all round if someone (stranger) thinks you are pregnant when you are not, just rather fat? Happened to me at a party, in my best party dress; just happened to friend at work on reception desk in front of other people. We are both women in 50's and a bit tubby round the middle. Must be polite answer, hopefully a bit amusing so no one around is upset or embarrassed. Thanks for any ideas.

The reply is only ever good if you are genuinely amused by the incident yourself. If you reply quickly but appear even slightly offended or upset by the remark, the it doesn't really matter what you say because the person will react to the emotion, (unless they're particularly thick skinned).
