Who is your local "celebrity?" Every small town seems to have their weirdo - who is yours? I'm developing a character for a book, so please be specific.

i've just asked my neighbours and they all said 'you are'.
I am, too
The local ram - I live out in the countryside......He does have several hundred women to keep him happy though.
women ? no ewes in your town dt ?
Gordon the tramp, he's even got his own Wiki page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_the_Tramp
Although he's not a tramp he has a perfectly good house to live in although it doesn't appear to have a bathroom by the smell of him. Years ago he used to wander about with a pack of dogs and when one of them had pups he used to put them in a wheel barrow.
Oh, I'm definitely the local eccentric. I go into town with my hiking gear on. I do get some funny looks. I've replaced the bag lady that used to be in town each day. She has moved to another town now. This town ain't big enough for the both of us!
There's a drunk bloke called George - otherwise, I think it's us.
The old lady from round the corner does have a tendency to wander around chatting to people whilst in her nightwear. She's not senile, she told me she can't be arsed to get dressed before lunch time............
Our bag lady was from an upper class family who decided that as she wasn't allowed to keep cats in her house due to environmental agency enforcement, she would rather live on the streets. She collected any waste bags littering the area and slept in the bushes with her cats. She was extremely eloquent but eccentric and loved to pop in to the local church coffee shop for a free meal or two. We miss her, but believe she is now living in sheltered accommodation - as she is about 75 years old and deserves a break! Her name is Sheila.
Someone local near where I used to work keeps rabbits and even takes them for a walk on a lead, they also cycle around a lot and have a basket on the front of their bike in which to take a giant 'Bugs Bunny' toy with them wherever they go.
There`s a guy who wanders around my nearest town who dresses up in different outfits. He`ll go through a cyclist phase where he wears lycra shorts, cycling shoes, gloves and helmet. Then he`ll be a rider. He`ll be in jodpurs, boots and riding hat with crop. When he wears the top hat and tails he looks like Baron Samedi from Live and Let Die. He`s been around for at least 20 years and everyone seems to know of him.
There's a few in our town; one gentleman who serenades people in the streets,he's one of the nice ones!
'Pigeon man' who made pigeon noises and I believe collected trolleys from the old Kwik Save (although may be getting two characters mixed up here)
Also have a transvestite who wears a ginger wig and round glasses; he has a transvestite friend who is sometimes about too; me and mum kept ending up in the same shops as them on a day out clothes shopping once!
And that's just for starters!
Sta Eulalia had Mad Mike an american veteran from the vietnam war, he had a metal plate in his head and looked a bit like chewbacca, but was a lovely warm human being, we loved him for years until he died. The stories he told were fabulous but whether we believed them all is another matter. A pleasure have known him and a deep loss.
Just one???? My town's full of 'em! :)
So is my road Karemac, nutters all of them.
I was going to say me - until I saw that several other posters put much the same!

We have a chap who lives nearby - who always wears a skirt! He minces up town with his shopping trolley, skirts flapping in the wind! He tells everyone he finds skirts more comfortable than trousers!
There are loads round here ..well ..it is Norfolk lol....but there's one most peculiar woman who wears the same clothes winter and summer .Thick black stockings , a long sort of skirt,Minnie Mouse shoes and even in the summer she has this anorak on with the hood up .
Poor soul .It does make you wonder ..
Have lots here!.......theres John the song, he sings in the street, has a terrible voice to be fair!.....and a lady who lives in my street who is crackers, she mutters to herself and sells raffle tickets for everything and anything, and then there's...........me!..............lol.......
...
Southend has quite a few

PennyPicker Steve - he goes round with a bucket getting loose change (sometimes thrown at him) - its all for charity - though some say thats not the case - has his own Facebook page

Theres a blind man, who has a collection of owls, that he shows off

Salvo the clown

There was Henry the clubbing OAP - he passed away a year or so, but he would be in Southends "premier" nightclubs nearly every night dancing with the girls (also has his own FB page) - I briefly lived in a houseshare with him - lovely bloke, just enjoyed the nightlife
