if someone puts something on the wrong section?
For instance, if I were to put a joke on here, would you all shout 'Put it in the jokes section?'
I'm just using this as an example.
I can imagine that the majority would say that if you do this then there is no point in having categorys (sp?) but I would like to know who would mind and who wouldn't.
I thank you :-)
I don't mind .People make mistakes .Only human.
What does annoy me however are those who take it upon themselves to run around berating people who do just to make themselves look important .
it depends, I will mention it to a newbie (they may continue to post in the wrong category or they may miss out on a whole section devoted to the subject of their choice)
occasionally I will mention it to users who post several jokes seperately in CB for example as they are pushing questions down for the sake of a couple of jokes.
It matters not one jot missprim.
However, the way the R&S category is going at the moment,I don,t think a
risque joke would be appreciated,in there, more,s the pity.
Dunno why, but it sometimes slightly niggles me. Especially those who start of with " Know this should be in the......category, but this one's busier/faster", now those I REALLY don't understand.
I agree with all replies but I sometimes wonder if it's because some folk don't know how to find the other sections like jokes as they are in the Phrases and Sayings dropdown.
Wonder if it's worth asking the ed if there is a way round this.
if you put a genuine question in the wrong section, the experts who regularly use that section, and give good advice, may not see it.
Other than that, I'd prefer it if all the topics were visible so you could make a proper choice. At the moment there's no point grumbling that a joke isn't in the joke section because you can't even *see* the joke section.
I think thats a good point miss prim, I had to look for jokes a week ago and it was quite a pain in the bum to find, maybe it needs to be more visible as its a popular area.
But if its a family related question and they want sensible/appropriate answers cazzz then it should be in the correct category. If everyone just slaps questions in here just because it's "quicker" then as MissP suggests, we might as well just do away with all the other categories then <shrug>
occasional questions I dont mind boo, though if they were repeated I would probably mention the family life section..at risk of being labelled "pedantic" of course.. ;)
And on the subject of finding sections.... I'd redesign the topics list so any section with sub sections has a little + sign to the left of the topic, clicking on the + would then expand it to show the sub sections.
Might see if I can do that some time actually.... shouldn't be hard.
///I cannot see why jokes cannot be posted in the 'Jokes section', if I'm honest.///
Think our posts crossed here JTH as I was just saying maybe it's because not everyone knows the section is there under Phrases and Sayings
I don't particularly like it when there are things in chatter bank that should be in news for example. I don't go to the news section often because I'm not normally that interested in what's going on in there but it doesn't bother me enough to ever say anything about it, it annoys me when i see that too. Sometimes people would do themselves more favours by putting things in the right sections though so the 'experts' in those subjects don't miss the posts. But I think the train of thought is that more people use CB so they'd get more answers.
Oh and the problem with people saying "you've put this in the wrong place" is that you'll end up with duplicate posts. I was thinking the other day that it would be good if you could move your own Q's around to a different category after you'd posted.
