Starbucks Coffees

Can someone please tell me the differance between a Starbucks Latte and a Starbuck Macchiato? Also how come the Costa and that Starbucks Macchiato are so different. Which one is a true Macchiato?

I don't know, but anyone who is prepared to pay over £3 for a cup of coffee needs a reality check. After all thats the price of a pint !

Can't tell you i'm afraid, only know that the few times i had starbucks coffee, out of sheer desperation, it was vile, and as Eddie says 3quid for a coffee, not likely

Proper macchiato has just the merest drop of milk in it. If one has foamy milk all over it is not proper macchiato- the yanks came up with that idea from soemwhere. Not sure if that helps, btu proper macchiato is just expresso with a dab of milk- now you can make your own mind up:)

I love good coffee and frequently pay more than £3.00 for a nice cup and no I don't think I'm mad either.

Rather have good coffee than cheap wine... and love trying different sorts... Miss Whittards as I used to make it at home with my little espresso machine I do drink coffee in macdonalds though its not bad and a good price and you have the loyalty card system buy 6 get one free

Not telling people they can't drink coffee, I drink 8 or 9 cups a day.
It is the ridiculous price and the astronomical markup at places like Starbucks that annoys me. The coffee in these places costs them around 10p the rest is profit. Don't come up with the excuse that it is the surroundings you pay for, they only drop the price by a few pence, if anything, if you take it away. Pure rip off ! The staff are all on minimum wage.

We drink their instant VIA at home - it's the best instant.

We get their beans and Via from Costco, and only buy beans when they have a special - the Christmas blend is magnificent; we have enough to last till June!

Incidentally, the Starbucks logo has an interesting and non-PC history...

Macchiato is an Italian word meaning “marked.” So a latte macchiato is steamed milk marked with a little espresso, while a caffè macchiato is espresso marked with a little milk.

Couldn't tell you why they taste different but as I understand it a latte macchiato should have less coffee in it than a latte and a macchiato is an espresso with the merest hint of milk in it. I personally couldn't care less what people spend their £3 on if they can afford it. I personally wouldn't give you a thankyou for a pint I'd much rather have the coffee.

I don't pay £3.00 for a coffee.

I pay £3.00 to sit in their premises, in The Lanes, chilling out and watching the world go by, and reading the papers ... and drinking the coffee that comes with it.

Exactly JJ but why do they still charge £3 to take the coffee away in a paper cup ? that is my grumble .

Think I need to get out more. Had no idea that you could pay £3/ £4 for a cup of coffee. Am amazed.
