loud background noise.
7 Answers
On certain programmes, mainly documentries, I have great difficulty hearing the presenter as there is very loud background music. Other programmes are absolutely fine so don't think it's all 'me'. Is there any way of adjusting this without calling an engineer? Have Sky HD and am not very technically minded.. Many thanks

If you take the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound feed from your HD box into a home cinema system, then very often the dialogue will be in separate channel(s) from the background music/noise. A bit of tweaking with settings can then boost the dialogue above the background. Works well on many programmes - particularly sport where the commentator can be boosted/buried in the crowd noise according to your preference.
