Taller Sons

Just watched a piece on the Beeb where the Murray brothers were on either side of their petite mum.
My sons are much taller than Mr Alba and I to the extent they pat me on the head as they pass by.
If you have sons are they taller than you or a similar height?

Ok, I dont have a son but my eldest daughter is a good 4 inches taller than me and I'm no short ar se at 5' 6"

She hasn't, yet, patted me on the head as she walks past though lol

My 14 year old son is just shy of 6ft tall, he towers over me and is taller than his dad now.

Our son is way taller than us. It seems to be the case now that most children are taller than their parents. the ones I know anyway. Even a work colleagues 12year old is now taller than her. I wonder why it is, and I think people in the early 1900s were smaller generally than us now and even smaller way back

Not yet, but no doubt it won't be long. They are 13 and 15 and the same height.

Mr Alba's lot are all about 5'8, my brothers were over 6ft, my dad was about 5'7 or so. There might be a genetic thingy going on somewhere in the past.

i'm five foot tall....and my son is 6'6''! i often look at him and wonder how he popped out from me and turned into a giant. he's even taller than mr kicker (he's 6'4''), much to his chagrin x

I haven't got any sons.... But I'm 6'6" and my mother is 5'1", I overtook her at about 12.

No, I have been known to do that to my older brother, who's about 5'10". He really doesn't like that :)

My youngest is heading the same way as well - I'm the shortest of my family, with both my sisters being taller. My maternal grandmother was 5' 9" and grandfather 6'

oooh LOL, younger son is slightly taller than his brother (much to older son's chagrin...ooh what a word for this time of the morning) Older son is as skinny as a rake, his brother is decidedly muscular
Mr Alba says you can't fatten a thoroughbred.

My grandson, aged 16, is 6ft. 3ins. and has to bend down to give me a hug. I am 5ft. 2ins. One of my other grandsons, aged 24, is 6ft. and skinny as a rake, but the last one, aged 21, is only 5ft 8ins. They are all lovely (IMO), but according to my children my glasses are rose coloured.

My mother was 5'2, my father 5'9 ish? I'm a shade over 6ft. My sons range form 5'10 to 6'4 with all but one being 6ft or over, and my daughter whose 13 is a willowy 5'8 with her mother only being 5'5.

Mine is a lot taller than both of us at almost 6 foot. If it wasn't that he looks so much like Mr rat and is just like me in all other ways I'd be wondering if we'd brought home the wrong baby all those years ago. There are no really tall people on either side so I've no idea why he shot up.

We dont have any tall folk in our family either. All my brothers and sisters are bertween 5.2 and 5.10 but all of our children and their children are way above. Its a new generation. Where do they get this tall gene from ?

I always understood - although it may be a myth - that a son is taller than his mother. (Since my MIL is less than 5ft tall, that's not so difficult...)

Someone told me that sons are always taller than their mothers. I don't know how true that is - but it seems so.

My Nan was 4'9 and had 13 children. Gramps was only about 5'5.

im a very tall looking 5'11" both of my Sons are 6'4"
