I was replacing an old fencing panel in the garden where there was a lot of ivy that needed removing, I came across a spider that looked just like a black widow apart from the red back this one had white, It was very small and shiny, I had to go to spider identifier to find out what it was. I have never seen one before.
In hampshire 3 years ago I came across a strange spider, not large but with an almost spherical black shiny abdomen with red spots on the back, yes you've guessed...but not a poisonous as it's well known cousin
Hmmm....yes I have met one in a very personal way. About 4 years ago I was walking with some friends and dogs by a large overgrown hedge. Typically it was me brushing past it.
Suddenly I felt a sharp stinging on my boob. As I was wearing a vest type top the small widows cousin fell down me cleavage and bit me nipple. It hurt / stung all day.
I am glad the dont have the real mamma over here, tis very easy to get caught out.
i got bitten by one of these a few years ago, i put the pocket of my clean work trousers to push the pocket down after putting them on and felt a sharp stabbing pain like there was a needle in my pocket so i pulled the pocket out and one of these fell out.
Poor thing was minding its own business overwintering in the ivy on your fence panel along with ladybirds and other little critters invaluable to our eco system and you come along and disturb it. Poor little thing. I hope you found it a nice new home josaphine:-)
