witch is smarter cats or dogs?

witch is the smarter 1? i would have to say cats by a long shot! no offence to doggies but cats r smarter! i'v got 4 cats and a dog and i'v known and had dogs and cats r defiantally the smarter animal! in my oppinion cats r way easier to train than dogs! like i tought my 4 month old kitten to fetch in less than 10 mins with out any treats! and all the tricks i'v tought my other cats have learnt  them in about a day and dogs r realy hard to train! they just don't get it! after having cats and going back to owning a dog,the dog is just realy stupid! i never knew how dumb they were till having cats! but thats just my oppinion...

never seen cats herding sheep, finding drugs, being used to detect cancer, help the blind etc etc, but I can see your point about cats being able to fetch, never seen a dog do that!!!!

with herding sheep, thoughs dogs have been bread 4 hundred of years to do that! its in there instict! and finding drugs who sais a cat can't? and detecting cancer dogs have a better sence of smell ever think of that? i admit dogs can do pretty kool things! and about the blind its like not ALL puppys that got to gyed dog school pass its like 1 in 100 puppys or something pass? and lets see would u do tricks 4 some1? would u sit? on command? i wouldn't! just cuz dogs r stupid mindless drones doesn't mean there smarter!

and sorry if i was a bit harsh its just that i can get carried away with this topic i feel very passionet about it!

I am with you camille. My Weimaraner (hunt point retrieve breed) can find things lost in a huge area if she feels like it, points and puts up pheasants without having been taught, but her attitude to a thrown ball is "you threw it, you get it"

being a mom to blackstandard poodle and a moggy ( im a dog lover by the way...... cats are hubbys domain) as much as it hates me to say it the cat is more intelligent than the dog . like woofgangs my dog has a memory like a sieve cant remember where her ball is when drops it , loses me on a field , but then when she feels like it she acts like shes clever ( they say dogs are like their owners!!!!!!), the cat on the other hand is intelligent to sleep during the day ....... staying out of trouble and only show her face at food times.X ( do they take after children?)

My dog is very clever... I'm not a cat person at all.  I think they are selfish and lazy and just kill for fun and not for food.  My friend's cat brings home, mice, birds...you name it, and just plays with it and kills it for fun.. not nice.

Neither are smarter. All the things that people claim dogs are smarter for (sniffing drugs, herding,etc.) is ALL INSTINCT. And all the things cats are supposedly smarter for are INSTINCT. You are all RETARDS.
