Hey all!

So, my better half is at a stag do this weekend, and so it is just me, the cats & the axolotls!

I am not used to being on my own, but need to start getting used to it as he is going to be away more with his work (he should have been going out more and staying outover night with work more then he has been the last 2 yrs but hasnt been because he doesnt like leaving me because I hate being on my own!)

So, have had my nails done in town, had a wander about, done 2 lots of washing and will soon be cooking some bolognese as I am starving!

Question is, do I venture to the pub later or stay in and watch tv?

He will be back late lunch time ish tomorrow, and he has been texting me today bless him, and I am sooo glad he is having fun with his mates. He spends all his life working too hard and getting agro fromme & his kids, he really deserves this weekend!

(Getting all soppy now, sorry!)

I am having a bottle of bulmers at the mo, but baring in mind I got a text at 11.30 this morning when I was waking up telling me he was already 3 beers down, I dont think I have been too bad lol!
Bottle of wine, chocolate and lots of girlie movies.... Sounds good to me:)
Eat your bolognese and go to the pictures to see a film he wouldn't want to see. I promise you no one will turn a head at you wandering in on your own. It will be really liberating and help you to regain your independence.

That would have been a damn good idea maidup... apart from the fact I have had a cider so wont be getting behind the wheel to drive, doh!

I am thinking if I go over the pub, there is bound to be someone I know there, (live in a little village so there is bound to be!) and I can take my kindle, so if there is no one there I can have 1 pint, read my book and then come home :-)

(All this is pretty brave for me beleive it or not, even the fact I went to town on my own today!)
have you got a hobby of your own to pursue, as well as the axolotls and housework? Just something to occupy your mind so you're not thinking "I'm all on my own!" all the time.

Hey jno,

No I dont really, other then watching cooking programmes but I dont really think that counts!

When I was out today, I actually really enjoyed it and didnt want to come back home so early. Went to town, got my nails done, then to Morrisons to get some food shopping and then was trying to think of something else I could do!
My OH is in Benidorm for his brother's stag do. He text me this morning to say he'd fallen asleep in the shower and flooded the whole apartment. Lol.
if not a hobby then maybe a project, even if it's just a big spring clean...
I love the evenings when I'm on my own.

Big bath with a glass of wine, face pack on and chill with my book.

Then get to grips with a pedicure cos the girls in the salon are far too superficial with their approach to my hard skin than I'd like.

Pour another glass of wine and then I undertake the nightmare of painting my nails. It doesn't seem to matter how long I leave them to dry I still snag them on something, even my bed sheets :-(

After my pampering I'll settle down and choose some complete crap on TV and settle down with a(nother) glass of wine.

Enjoy your time alone, thrive on it and find luxurious, indulgent ways of enjoying it.

Lmao NoM!

Thats brilliant!

Nothing that bad will be happening I dont think.

He went round to his mates for 9 this morning, they got a Stretch Range Rover to Cambridge (he was unsure about the Stretch limo or car thing but was so happy it was a Range Rover lol!) Then had some lunch, been to see Cambridge v Wrexham this afternoon and then back to the hotel to freshen up, then off for beers & curry this evening!

So glad he is out and enjoying himself though, because he normally doesnt want to leave me on my own. So much so that he doesnt even go to the drinks & darts evenings with his mates every couple of months. He is not a big drinker, but he works bloody hard and has to put up with me & my rubbish so to know he is having fun is actually making being on my own alot moe bareable!
When OH is away - and he is a lot - I love it (I love it when he's here too!). I do what I want to do, make my own entertainment - I never feel lonely, but you do need to learn to be happy with your own company. I read, I sleep, I see MY friends, get on with things which interest me but not him - it then means we have different things to talk about when he comes home, rather than me sitting indoors all day waiting for him.

Hey boxy,

Its not that I feel lonely, part of it is I have always had issues being on my own, and the other part is that I just cant stand not being with him! But I knw it is my problem and I dont want to keep holding him back at work and also with his mates as it is not fair.

There is 17 years beween us, me being the younger, so you would think I would be up and about and out there with my mates... but nope!
Hi wiggal, just out of interest, what age bracket are you in?
We're the opposite to you Wiggal. I work a couple of evenings each week so OH has developed a hobby which he does 2 nights a week. However sometimes we don't clash so I work Tuesday and Thurday next week and he's out Monday and Wednesay! We'll look forward to a day together on Friday and a properly cooked meal.
Just do what you like to do most and enjoy yourself, you could always immerse yourself in Chatterbank, try putting "Apotheosis" in the search box, it'll keep you entertained for days, it does me, the hours fly by and suddenly it's 3 in the morning.

Hey smowball,

I am 25, he is 41.

Went to the pub... and no one was there, pfft!
So I sat myself in on the comfy sofa in the corner with my kindle and a shandy, or 2 and read for a couple of hours :-)
Wiggal - I've been meaning to ask how the vegan meal went, or is it this weekend? Cna't remember when.
wiggal, I do know how you feel. I really do. I am a lot older now but remember the feeling... watch the tv until you are very tired and go to bed. even keep the light on if you feel better about it . also I used to have the radio on very low.when I went to bed. You have your cats to keep company talk to them..noone can hear you so dont feel daft.! lol. hope you get a good nights sleep. Brenda x
