Loud hum on the T.V.
4 Answers
No not a loud ummmm on the tv,but, I was keeping my mum company this afternoon while dad was out playing senior marbles, (sorry, bowls) and we watched the tennis and the white water kayaking. All the time there was what seemed to me to be a 50Hz hum coming the tv speakers. If the background was bright, the hum intensified and of course it dropped in volume if the background was darker. The system he is using is an LG tele 30 inch or bigger I did not measure, and wired through that is a Humana digital box. the TV and the box both have freeview and the DVD player he has is on the 2nd scart socket. Do you clever people out there have any thoughts on how I can fix this problem. Dad has 50% hearing and Mum has 90% + and although the volume was down low while we watched and talked the hum was most intrusive. Any advice gratefully received, dtc.

The first one (the digibox presumably) had the volume set too low, so the second one had the volume high to compensate amplifying both desired signal and noise as well. You may wish to check the volumes setting.

Failing that maybe the TV or the digibox is just getting old and past it.
